Mohammad Asghar (born 30 September 1945), known as Oscar, is a Welsh politician of Pakistani descent, who has been a member of the Welsh Conservative Party, the Welsh Labour Party, and Plaid Cymru. He came to prominence after being elected to the Welsh Assembly in 2007 as a member of Plaid Cymru on the list for South Wales East.

The Lord Mayor for the City of Stoke-on-Trent 2014/15 is Councillor Majid Khan. The Lord Mayor is the First Citizen of Stoke-on-Trent, and with this comes a high profile role in promoting and maintaining the interests of the city and its people. Shabana Mahmood MP was born (17 September 1980) and brought up in Small Heath, Birmingham. Between 1981 and 1986 she lived with her family in Taif, Saudi Arabia, as her father relocated there to work as a civil engineer. Her family roots are from Mirpur, Azad Kashmir. When the family returned home to Birmingham, she was educated locally within Birmingham Ladywood constituency, at Small Heath School.

Khalid Mahmood represents the Birmingham Perry Barr constituency, since he won the election with a majority of over eight thousand votes. His earlier political career includes being a member of the Birmingham City Council, as well as Chair of Race Relations.

Humza Yousaf (born 7 April 1985) is a Scottish politician who is the Minister for Europe and International Development and a Scottish National Party Member of the Scottish Parliament for Glasgow. He was elected to the Scottish Parliament in 2011 and became a junior minister in 2012. Yousaf is the son of immigrants who came to Britain in the 1960s: his mother came from Kenya and his father from Pakistan.

Naveeda Ikram, a Pakistani-born Briton, is the United Kingdom’s first lord mayor to be both Muslim and a woman. Prior to her selection as lord mayor of Bradford in 2011, she served as the deputy lord mayor. Since 2004, she has served as a councillor for Bradford’s Little Horton ward.
