Dr Mohammed Ali OBE is Founder and Chief Executive of QED UK which is a social enterprise founded in 1990 to improve the social & economic position of disadvantaged communities in the UK & Europe. Mohammed Ali was born in the district Attock of Pakistan and came to live in the UK in 1969. He attended Tong School in Bradford and graduated in Chemistry from Huddersfield Polytechnic in 1979. He completed diploma in Business Administration from Bradford University School of Management and for the next ten years worked in UK and abroad in various exciting and new developmental roles with Glaxo Pharmaceuticals, Bradford Community Relations Council, Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, Sheffield City Council and Fullemploy Group.
In 1990 he founded Quest for Economic Development, known as QED-UK, an ethnic minority community focused social and economic development charity. Over the past twenty years he has had experience of working with diverse communities in England. He has participated in seminars and conferences in Europe, Canada and Asia on ethnic minority integration issues.
Awards & Accolades:
Mohammed Ali has won many accolades for his work with communities including: Professor Handy’s Alchemist Award, finalist in the Personality of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Principal of the Year categories of the UK Charity Awards; and Institute of Directors Award. In 1997 he was given an honorary doctorate from Bradford University and in 2001 received the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his work with communities.

Mohammed Ali is currently, or has recently been, a member of Bradford and Airedale NHS, DWP Ethnic Minority Employment Advisory Group, Third Sector Consortium(3SC), The Addsset Partnership, ACEVO North Advisory Board, Personalisation Commission, Home Office Earned Citizenship Strategic Advisory Group, European Integration Forum, Appointments Commissions Equality and Diversity Forum; Economic and Social Research Council Peer Review College.
He has also held many other appointments in the past 20 years including West Yorkshire Learning and Skills Council, National Consumer Council Advisory Group, Bradford University Council, School of Management Advisory Board, Diversity Officer for Yorkshire Regions Institute of Directors and the BBC Northern Region Forum.
