Cllr James Shera MBE was educated at Forman Christian College, University of the Punjab, Lahore (BA and MA in Political Science), and the Catholic University of Louvain, (International Relations) and University of Warwick (PGCE), James then began a teaching career with the Warwickshire LEA.
James is currently Director of Intercultural Education for Warwickshire, a Senior Labour Councillor and the Leader of the Labour Group and was Mayor of Rugby and presently Chair of Resources and Corporate Governance Panel. James Shera is also the executive Director and Vice Chair of the Warwickshire Primary Care Trust.
James Shera is past Chair of Warwickshire Health Authority and Vice Chair of West Midlands South Strategic Health Authority. James Shera was Chair of Rugby Race Equality Council and is now Director of Warwickshire Race Equality Partnership and is General Income Tax Commissioner for Rugby and Southam area.
James Shera was a Board Member for Oxford Centre for Mission Studies. James Shera is past Chair and Founder of the Rugby Myton Hospice and was National Trustee of Barnardos (Children’s Charity) and Chair of its Audit Committee.
James Shera is past Chair of the St Andrew’s Benn and Northlands Primary School Governing Body in Rugby and has also served nationally as a member of the Parole Board and Ofsol. James Shera is a Governor of Warwickshire College and Coventry University.
In 1992 James Shera was awarded the Star of Pakistan (highest civil award) by the President of Pakistan, for services to community relations and inter-faith in Britain.
James Shera has been awarded an MBE for services to communities and the NHS.
