Anas Sarwar, MP (born 14 March 1983) is a British Labour Party politician and has been the Member of Parliament for Glasgow Central since 6 May 2010, succeeding his father Mohammad Sarwar, the first-ever British Pakistani Muslim MP in the UK. Sarwar is the acting leader of the Scottish Labour Party after Johann Lamont resigned from the post on 25 October 2014. 

I’m the son of a mill worker who I joined in smog-filled but vibrant Bradford, West Yorkshire back in the good old days of 1960. Although born in the newly independent but part of the British commonwealth country of Pakistan, I came to Yorkshire as soon as I could. I was then only eight years old.

Mohammed Afzal Khan CBE (born 1960, in Jhelum, Pakistan), is a Labour Party politician in Manchester, England and a Member of the European Parliament. Afzal Khan was born in Pakistan and moved to Brierfield in Lancashire when he was 12 years old. He started his working life as a labourer in a mill and later became a weaver. On moving to Manchester he resumed his education and completed his A-levels at Abraham Moss College.

Zahida Parveen Manzoor, Baroness Manzoor CBE (born 25 May 1958) is an English businessperson and public appointee, who was elevated to the House of Lords as a Liberal Democrat peer in 2013. From 2003 to 2011 she served as the Legal Services Ombudsman for England and Wales, reporting directly to Parliament.
